JEDI4KiDS in partnership with DMC College foundation and the Student United Volunteers (SUV) distributed school supplies to its partner barangay in Relocation Site, Brgy. Dicayas, Dipolog City last May 25, 2015.

It was a day full of fun and games for the children of barangay Dicayas. The team from DMCCFI consisted of Dr. Gerald T. Concha Vice-President for Student External Affairs and Linkages, JEDI4KiDS Volunteers, and Student United Volunteers headed by Mr. Dofel Alexis Bacuno, A short program was held at Covered Court of Brgy. Dicayas. The eleven Student Volunteers facilitated the games alongside the JEDI4KiDS representatives. Winners of games such as Caterpillar Game were given tumblers and goodies.After the program, the J4K volunteers and DMC Students distributed school kits with school supplies in it to those kids aged 6 and above and tumblers for those who are 6 years old and below. The funds for all of the items given to the students were from the collected student fines from the previous semesters and from the J4K Foundation. The team decided to distribute the school kits in time for the opening of S.Y. 2015-2016.

This partnership between the DMC Student United Volunteers and JEDI4KiDS is aimed at establishing a collaborative effort within the college in order to foster community engagement activities. The event was made successful through the cooperation of local barangay officials of Barangay Dicayas.

JEDI4KiDS is planting the seeds for future developer communities. JEDI4KiDS plays asignificant role in helping the children understand and learn computer programming. It hopes to inspire the younger generation to develop strong interest and confidence in programming. Learning to code is an incredibly valuable developmental skill regardless if the child goes on to have a career in Information Technology.
