The recent results of PRISAA REGIONAL COLLEGIATE GAMES 2015 (CHED) and the ZAMBOANGA PENINSULA REGIONAL ATHLETIC MEET 2015 (DEPED) on February 4-8, 2015 and February 24-28, 2015 repectively showed the continuous dominance of Dipolog City in football event.

In the tertiary (college) level, since 2005, our first participation in the Private Schools Athletic Association Regional Collegiate Games, Dipolog City Private Schools dominated the event for eleven (11) straight years (2005-2015). DMC College Foundation and Andres Bonifacio College, continue to produce quality players with the help of our grassroots coaches who unconditionally honed elementary players in this City and the nearby municipalities.

Our domination in Region IX made a big impact in the National level, we already produced 5 bronze medals and 2 silver medals, but the quest for the elusive gold medals in the national competition still continue. Hopefully, we can get one in the near future.

Our players are also making their names in the professional League, the United Football League in Metro Manila. Some of our players who already graduated, like Jerry Barbaso, Michael Atienza, Bryan Gumela, Vincent Gambana, Niño Ochotorena, Lendon Marcojos, Ren Mantua, Reginald Jukes, Jr. are mainstays of their respective football clubs in UFL.

Recently, during the ZPRAA Meet 2015 at Pagadian City, our Elementary and High School booters made their own history, dominating the regional event for three (3) consecutive years. Even though it is a bad experiece, when during the championship match between Dipolog City and Pagadian City, a well-known personality from Pagadian City shouted infront of the football field saying – “BALI-I NA, HOST BITAW TA”. Even when the game turned ugly because of intentional and heavy fouls, Dipolog booters showed its composure and went on the win the Gold Medal. We showed them that we are above level when it comes to sports. We fully understand the game and continue to win appreciation to those who love sports.

The secondary football team was deeply represented by the PRISAA of Dipolog City, players came mainly from DMC College Foundation (8 players), Andres Bonifacio College (5 players) and ZNNHS (2 players). With the ongoing success of the private schools, we owed a lot to the Administration of the member schools. PRISAA Dipolog City is now headed by Atty. Albert T. Concha, Jr. of DMC College Foundation as President, Engr. Armand Amatong of Andres Bonifacio College as Vice President, Mr. Florentino D. Diana of Dipolog City Institute of Technology as the PRISAA Regional IX President, Rev. Fr. Nathaniele A. Denlaoso who represents Saint Vincent’s College, St. Joseph College of Sindangan and Rizal Memorial Institute of Dapitan City. Other members are Dipolog Community School and Saint Mary’s Academy.

Another team in the PRISAA Dipolog who wants to imposed dominance in their field, are the PRISAA spikers. The Dipolog City Volleyball Boys are the back-to-back champion (2004 & 2005). The team was handled by Mr. Zaldy Pacificar of DCIT. While the Volleyball (Men) in the tertiary are still dominated by Dipolog City/Zamboanga del Norte. The team in now on a 5 win streak, holding the championship for five (5) years.

Meanwhile, our Basketball (Boys) and Basketball (Men) coached by Leonardo Silva and Bajik Dulanas respectively, failed to defend the title. Basketball Boys finished with Bronze Medal and the Basketball (Men) settled for Silver Medal, beaten by last year’s runner-up Pagadian City.

With the full support of the school Administrators, who spent their resources just to hire quality coaches to handle their varisty teams, to them, we offer our success. They spent so much just to have a quality program and training for our athletes. To the coaches/trainers, Football-Miguel Arvin “Bong” Valbuena, Joseph L. Fiel, John Lloyd S. Bastasa and Joeriz “Bobby” Palma. Basketball-Garry R. Dulanas, Leonardo Silva and Levin Hope Silva. Volleyball-Zaldy W. Pacificar, Ryan L. Garnica and Eric James Valencia thank you very much.

To the City of Dipolog, who give their full support to our athletes, thank you. To the City Schools Division, thank you. To Judge Chandler O. Ruiz, Chairman-Youth and Sports Development, thank you very much for the support, you never leave us during the duration of the ZPRAA Meet, two thumbs-up. To Mr. Ronillo Yarag, PESS Supervisor, thank you sir for the understanding and support.

To all the teams bound for PRISAA NATIONAL GAMES at Ilo-ilo City on April 10-19, 2015 and those who are bound for PALARONG PAMBANSA 2015 on May 2015 at Tagum City/Marikina City (to be decided- waiting for the peace and order situation of Mindanao)...BEST OF LUCK AND GOD BLESS US ALL.
